Congratulations are in order to the Center’s newest member of the Executive Management Team, Dr. Brent Lovett, who was recently promoted to Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Lovett is a 20 year veteran in community mental health with specialized training in child, adolescent and adult psychiatry.

In this expanded role, he will provide oversight to physician services in the areas of Acute Care Services, Urgent Care and Adult and Children’s Outpatient Medical Services. Dr. Lovett is responsible for providing administrative and clinical supervision to the Physician Team, oversees quality assurance activities for physician services, assures appropriate utilization of physician time and coverage on all medical units, and provides direct psychiatric services to adults, children and adolescents.

David Schimmel, David Lawrence Centers CEO, stated, “The work he has done over the last year, managing the expansion of the Children’s Outpatient Services Department has helped the Center achieve its goal of expanding access to highly trained, specialized mental health services for children and families in Collier County. Through his leadership and direct care, he has improved the lives of thousands of children, adolescents and adults in our community. He has been an invaluable asset to our organization and we are honored to award him this promotion.”

For the last four years, Dr. Lovett has served as the David Lawrence Center’s Medical Director and prior to that was the Children’s Medical Director for a total of 7 years. In addition, he owned his own private practice in Southwest Florida serving children and adolescents. He is a board certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist.

Dr. Lovett earned both his bachelor’s degree and medical degree from the University of Kansas. He went on to complete his post graduate work in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry from Kansas University. Dr. Lovett was a Major in the Unites States Army Reserves and served in the War in Iraq.
