David Lawrence Centers Adds to Acute Care Medical Team
Naples, Fl – David Lawrence Centers, Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit mental health and addiction recovery treatment center serving children, adults and families, is pleased to announce the addition of Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Rosa Smith (shown to the right, at left) and Adult Staff Psychiatrist Marta Pieczalska, MD (shown to the right, at right) to the Acute Care medical team. Smith and Pieczalska will provide psychiatric medical services to clients in the Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit, Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit, Adult Detoxification Unit, Baker Act Receiving Center and Emergency Services Assessment Center.
The addition of Smith and Pieczalska mark the continued expansion of the Center’s medical staff which represents the largest, multidisciplinary treatment team in Collier County consisting of board certified child, adolescent, adult and geriatric psychiatrists, addictionologists, doctors of osteopathic medicine, advanced registered nurse practitioners, physician assistants and medical technicians.
Rosa Smith will serve as a part-time Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. She is bilingual in Spanish and English and has 25 years of experience in psychiatric nursing services in inpatient, outpatient, home-based and hospital treatment settings. She earned her certified nursing assistant license and licensed practical nursing certification from the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center in Pennsylvania. She went on to pursue her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Mount Aloysius College in Pennsylvania and her master of nursing degree as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio.
Prior to joining David Lawrence Centers, Smith most recently served as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Psychiatric Associates of Southwest Florida, as a Family Nurse Practitioner at USBD Hospitalist and Consultants and as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Elite DNA Therapy Services.
Smith is a certified Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in family health in Florida and Pennsylvania. She is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support by the American Heart Association and is a Certified Hypnotherapist. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurse Association and International Hypnotherapist Association.
Dr. Pieczalska will serve as a full-time Staff Psychiatrist. She most recently served as a Staff Psychiatrist in Youth and Family Services at the Peak Wellness Center in Wyoming. She also taught nurse practitioners and family practitioners at the University of Wyoming. She has extensive experience in psychiatric consultation, medication management and liaison services in the telehealth, inpatient and outpatient treatment settings.
Dr. Pieczalska attended Jagiellonian University in Poland, where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine. She completed her residency in general psychiatry and her fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Texas.
Dr. Pieczalska is board certified in general, child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
