David Lawrence Centers Receives $30,000 Grant from Stranahan Foundation for Children’s Services
Naples, Fl – David Lawrence Centers, Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit mental health and addiction recovery treatment center serving children, adults and families, is pleased to announce that the Stranahan Foundation of Toledo, Ohio has awarded the Center a $30,000 grant to support children’s mental health services.
The funds will specifically be utilized in outpatient and community-based treatment settings for psychotherapy services, psychological testing and individualized support needed to treat the complex mental health needs of children in Southwest Florida. In addition, a portion of the grant will provide highly specialized traumatic incident reduction (TIR) training for clinical staff who treat children and adolescents.
Funding for these treatment services will improve access to David Lawrence Center’s mental health treatment services so that children and their families can recover from crises and prevent the need for intervention. The goal of this grant is to improve the overall well-being of children and build a healthy community.
David Lawrence Centers CEO Scott Burgess said, “Investing in the mental health and wellbeing of children in our community is a top priority for DLC. Early identification, diagnosis and treatment can help children build skills and resilience, as well as prevent more serious problems such as substance use, criminal justice involvement, school failure, hospitalizations and teen pregnancy as they get older. We are honored the Stranahan Foundation has chosen to continue to walk alongside us in this important, lifesaving mission to restore and rebuild lives one child at a time.”
